Replacement of Highbury Corner Bridge

On 11 September 2015 Transport for London (TfL) are making a temporary change in the hoarding outside the station, around the site of the old post office. They are extending the hoarding up to The Famous Cock Tavern, which will close the thoroughfare to Upper Street at this point.

Pedestrians leaving the station will be diverted left around the hoarding to access Upper Street (and other parts of the gyratory). The hoarding will remain in this position until mid December 2015.

One of the station entrances will also be closed (on the southern, gyratory side) for the same period (11 September – mid December 2015). During this time the station exit (on the northern, Archway side) will function both as an entrance and exit. The station will remain open at all times and the size of the hall inside will stay the same.

The Famous Cock Tavern will remain open as usual throughout the works.

During the closure TfL will be working on the parts of the bridge under the station forecourt adjacent to The Famous Cock Tavern. This is the first stage of the project to reconstruct the bridge beneath the whole forecourt.

Between 11 September and mid December 2015, the station forecourt and surrounding area is likely to be more crowded than usual, especially during peak times. Customers may wish to make alternative travel arrangements which they can do using tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey.
