‘Lest We Forget’ – At the 11th hour in the 11th month we will remember.

For much of the 20th century ‘Lest we Forget’ had an obvious meaning in that for so many the annual Remembrance Day had a  personal link as it provided a way in which individuals could share publicly as the nation expressed its grief.

The amazing poppy at the back of this sculpture of a First World War Infantry soldier, commonly known as a ‘Tommy’ was created by school children. They wrote the names of the 5286 men and women from the Shropshire War Memorials onto individual poppies.
