Councils to challenge Boris’ cuts to Fire Service

Islington Borough Council is leading a consortium of London Boroughs – including Waltham Forest Council – to mount a Judicial Review of the closures to fire stations that Mayor Boris Johnson has pushed through.

Boris has instructed the Fire Authority (the LFEPA) to close 10 fire stations, remove 14 fire engines and sack 552 firefighters across London, something that will jeopardise the safety of thousands of people across London.

I am delighted that Islington and Waltham Forest Councils, together with several others across London, are doing this and they have my full support for the great work they are doing.
