The cost of living crisis is affecting the majority of people in London and across the UK, as wages fall in real terms, while bills continue to increase above the rate of inflation. If you live in Hackney, Islington or Waltham Forest, I’m looking for your feedback on how this is affecting you.
Residents living in Zones 1-4 have already seen up to 35.6 per cent increase in TfL fares since Boris became Mayor in 2008.
In Hackney, Islington and Waltham Forest private rents went up by 8.7 per cent, 2.6 per cent and 5.9 per cent, respectively, from October 2011 to September 2012, which amounts to £1,275, £444 and £661 a year, respectively, whilst wages have decreased in real terms across the board.
It is important that I understand just how this crisis is affecting people across my constituency and across London so that I can ensure I hold the Mayor to account. You can complete the survey by clicking here.
Thank you for your help in advance.
